Birthday Party

Kanye West running for President

It’s the year 2020. America is going through a pandemic, called COVID-19. We know that it is similar to the common cold except there is nothing common about this. Everyone must wear a mask at all times. The economy shut down for about three months starting after my birthday in March. A guy named George Floyd was killed by the cops after he told the cops that he couldn’t breathe. This created an uproar. Commoners turned activists by night. Black Lives Matter did what most organizations do and started spreading propaganda. They told everyone that America is a country where racism still exists and the White Race is the supreme race. Although I am not proud of the recent events. I have a hard time accepting this narrative.

I never believed that my race, held me back. Although, I am bi-racial or mixed (an entirely different race). I am black and I am white, but more than any one race I always just felt human. My mother who is full black, has this mentality that people are always looking for handouts. Always searching for injustice. And if you’re always looking for something you might just find it. I agree with her to a certain extent. I was brought up with the motto, “life isn’t fair”. Unfortunately, that’s politics 101. The working man, will always have to work. The rich man will always get paid, especially if he owns land. It would be nice to live in a world where everyone had the same opportunities, but unfortunately that isn’t the case. Some people take what life gives them and make lemonade and others are more concerned about where the lemons come from. I choose to make a lemon drop with what I have and maybe bedazzle the shot glass. 😉

I’m happy that Kanye West is running for president. Because, this is America and you can do whatever you set your mind to doing! This doesn’t mean I will automatically vote for him, because I want to see how he campaigns. Unfortunately, the two parties that have been “at” it time and time again are the Democrats vs. the Republicans. Each blames the other for the failures of this country. I choose to believe that being an American means that you have a right to be completely free as you are. Perhaps, this is our great demise. In hindsight, there is a silver lining, but it’s kind of like God giving people free-will. The will to choose what you want your life to be like, look like and smell life. I get it though… some people have had red and yellow lights most of their life and are just hoping to get a green light every once and a while. I’m walking in the cross-walk. I’ve had green lights, yellow lights and red lights and the one thing I’ve noticed is that everyone wants their something instantaneously. We want the life we want to have right now and we won’t take no for an answer. These morals have been instilled in us. I understand how some people dislike Americans, but we aren’t all that bad. Some of us, like myself understand these thoughts, and others choose to whine and complain about how nothing is fair. We live in a democratic state. If you dislike something… that requires a vote. Sometimes I imagine what America would look like without a democracy and it frightens me. I guess that’s why traditionalists hold on to old views and ways of thinking. I like to think there could be a happy medium, where everyone just acted like it is their birthday every damn day. Because being alive is the greatest gift we know about so far and yet we take for granted.
